Faith Is The Root, Obedience is the Fruit

Today I finished reading a religious book titled “The Lost Faith of the Apostles and Prophets” by Yisrayl B. Hawkins.  My friend Derek recommended the book to me.  It is a book that discusses how the original Christians in the first century lived and then how it was prophesied in the book of Revelation (last book of the Bible) how through persecution they stopped being obedient to the faith once delivered to the saints.

The author uses scripture specifically mentioned in Revelation chapters 2 and 3 which is written to the 7 church assemblies.  While the churches actually did exist at the time Revelation was in the first century, the author shows how they also represent 7 Eras of time.

The first 5 Eras dealt mainly with Roman persecution of the Christians.  Then the author shows how we are living in the 6th and 7th Eras where there will be churches desiring to be more obedient to the laws of God written in the first 5 books of the Bible.

I did not mind reading this book, but the author took some liberties on his interpretation of Revelation chapters 2 and 3.  While I do agree we should try to be obedient as best as we can.  I feel we should be obedient BECAUSE of our faith NOT FOR our faith.  I got the impression the author is saying we should obey for our faith.  I could be wrong though.

Reading this book reminded me that my FAITH Is The Root and my OBEDIENCE Is The Fruit on loving God and loving people.
